An excerpt from my, “Adventures and Ecotourism in San Miguel de Allende”.

Introduction
San Miguel, without a doubt, is a magical place. No one knows exactly why, but it’s true. Now, adding to the magic is a new Spirit of Adventure. Adventure and ecotourism have come to the forefront of San Miguel’s culture, and new generations will flock to San Miguel, in the future, to enjoy all of these new activities. And we’re surrounded by other ecotourism destinations within a days travel in almost every direction.

We now have, thanks to Pilot Jay Kimball, hot air baloon flights. The most exciting way to view this centuries old city from a different perspective. An adventure without compare! Within practically everyone’s budget is an experience that you will never forget.

And there is a place, Cante, dedicated to the conservation and appreciation of our natural resources. Set in the heart of the central highlands of Mexico, this reserve covers more than 100 hectares adjacent historic San Miguel, the result of non-governmental efforts, begun in 1990, to rescue and protect an area of outstanding natural beauty, of ecological importance.

Right next door to Cante is Parque Landeta, where you can mountain bike, or ride your ATV to your hearts content through a natural perserve of local flora and fauna with even a wetland area to enjoy.

So get going. Get out there and build some memories. Memories that you will be able to share with future generations.
